BIRYANI: AN INDIAN MASTER PIECE

Posted on Updated on

I am a person who loves restaurant food especially when it comes to Indian chicken biryani, the term biryani in itself has the essence, aroma, taste and looks that trigger any familiar south Asian’s taste buds. Biryani, an evergreen classic, really needs no introduction. It’s aromatic, it’s heavenly and one of the most loved delicacies of the country. India is a land where the actual biryani has been so vastly experimented and been cooked to make itself one of the best recipes and also one of the trademarks of the country. It is prepared in different styles and ways in different parts of our country. However as far as I know, the biryani of Hyderabad, Lucknow, Tamilnadu, Calcutta and Kashmir tend to be more popular in our country.

“If there is such a thing as foods of the God, it is undoubtedly the biryani. The magic of biryani lies in the way rice is transformed into something ambrosial.” – Pratibha Karan

Making biryani is what we call it a “culinary masterpiece” in India!! It really takes a lot of practice and patience before one makes that “perfectbiryani. Traditionally to make a magical effect, an array of ingredients such as rose petals, kewra water, mint leaves, jasmine flowers, lemon, and milk to this dish for perfecting it in terms of flavour, colour and taste.

Biryani in many world class Indian cuisines is considered as the “king” of the menu. Here’s the thing about me, I am obsessed with biryani, as is probably every other person in the country. In my high school days in Chennai, the only eating out we friends planned and managed with furiously saved pocket money would be a plate of biryani. Since then, biryani has defined a special treat for me.

A familiar person can never resist biryani no matter how much he tries and believe me I have experienced it. Any fitness freak would say rice puts on calories but if a plate full of mouth-watering tasty Hyderabadi biryani is placed in front of him, he would say “fitness can wait for one day!! ” that according to me is the POWER of biryani .

Biryani is a complete meal in itself, apt to suit all occasions; whether a hearty meal on a lazy Sunday afternoon or a grand, scrumptious indulgence at the dinner table – there are varieties available to please one and all.Just in case you are in a mood to cook some yourself this festive season, links for some of the simplest and my loved biryani recipes from across the country will be enough to inspire the cook within you.

FACEBOOK:THE DEVIL IN A BEAUTIFUL FORM

Posted on

Scott Kleinberg  mentioned Facebook as “sharing trap” and I give my whole hearted vote to him.In this modern world many surveys have concluded that teenagers are more addicted to Facebook than drugs or drinks, If the latter spoils our health then Facebook spoils our mind !! I ask my friend ,how many hours do you spend on Facebook?”4 hours a day or something ” she tells me. atrocious isn’t it!! The digital lives of us “teenagers” has overwhelmed our lives in this real and wonderful  world .God has given us a wonderful world to enjoy and explore then why are we hiding behind these so called social websites !! In a essay for the GUARDIAN,the novelist Jonathan Franzen bemoaned online socialising ,arguing it was creating a uniquely shallow and trival culture.

Facebook is like an empty fridge, even when you know there is nothing useful in there you are tempted to open and check” who said this first ?As far as I know one of my friends who is a “Facebook addict” told me that !! Apart from the teenagers addiction to Facebook, there are also many other mishaps occurring due to careless acceptance of friend requests, especially girls are made the targets!!!

Facebook’s way of making friends have destroyed the old way . C.S.Lewis once told Friendship is born at that moment when one of the person says what ?you too? I thought I was the only one” . this is mainly misunderstood by many youngsters , they do find friends according to the above but in  Facebook!! they like their pics, share them and poke one-another ,but what’s the point!! In this world ,many of the so called Facebook friends don’t even know how their friend’s look!! I myself know 6 such people(yea to be frank) :):):) !!

Why are new generation people not into face to face talk? why do they want to hide themselves behind Facebook or such social websites? Are they afraid of reality ? where is this technological development taking us ? Is this called evolution? ask yourselves whether this is improvement in our economy?

LIFE OF A 12th GRADER !!

Posted on Updated on

I am someone who says “holiday homework ” and “friend’s lunch” or alternatively “tough classes to attend ” and “games period” when I get to talk about my 12th grade .But as students we never feel this regular work boring ,in fact it just grows interesting day by day!!.

As students we have our priorities right. Is there a class that we bunk today? And if YES ,what reason can we give our teacher ?I know 12th grade is pretty tough and an crucial stage in a student’s life but its in the same stage that a student must enjoy and cherish his/her last moments of school life with their teachers and friends. There are many students who come into 12th  grade and whine about its difficulty and the “stress” they have to endure!!To be frank and honest its not the subject that makes it complicated but its them !! Even I as a 12th grade student felt hopeless and dejected almost  the whole time of my 12th grade.

There are two treasured and most happiest moments of a 12th grader’s life, one is  “when the teacher forgets to ask about their project or homework ” and the other is “when their parents forget to inquire about their marks;)”!!!! A 12th grader’s life is like a boat journey ,you have to enjoy the trip as much as you can but you have to be careful at the same time or else you will go deep down into the sea!!.

After all this enjoyments and happiness with our second family “our school” there comes farewell  for us the 12th graders from our beloved teachers and juniors. This farewell will be carved in the saddest memories of each and every 12th grader in this world !! Richard Bach(american writer) once told “Don’t be dismayed by goodbyes .A farewell is necessary before you can meet again. And meeting again after moments or lifetime is certain for those who are friends”.

A THUMBS UP FOR ALL THE 12th GRADERS WHO MISS THEIR SCHOOL LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :):)
